A family tree app for os x would be cool.
But all the family tree apps for os x seem to really, really suck. Reunion 8 has a horrid interface, lifelines is kinda cool, but cli. I didn't move to os x from linux+blackbox for no reason. ;)
I really just want something that has a family tree, where I can see a name and a picture in a tree view. If I want to view information about a person, I want to just click on their name. And html/xml export. And most importantly, make it pretty. :D
I really just want iCal for genealogy. Is that too much to ask?
None of the apps out there seem to cover this need. I even looked for gtk and qt based solutions, and web db type stuff, nothing out there is functionally simple... And so I will be forced to finally learn to code something, instead of just being the PHB for a lot of people.. *sigh*
Posted by tick at June 3, 2004 08:11 PMMy dad went through a bunch of genealogical software too for a while. He finally settled upon a web-based CGI called GeneWeb. Here's the site for the software:

Our family database contains 7885 people :D
