So more on the emoticon standardization stuffs. Not going to go with a plist format, it was just an easy to make rough draft. XML with a dtd seems to the thing to go with. I don't really know xml so I am getting help with that portion, heh.
Someone posted this link to my last post:

Unfortunately this one does not bode will with me, for the simple fact that this is what it says, in red, at the top of the page:
WARNING: Consideration of this JEP has been Deferred by the Jabber Software Foundation. Implementation of the protocol described herein is not recommended.
Also, the file format seems overly complicated. I want something as simple as possible, the point of this is ease of use for the user after all.
So hopefully something will come of this, and then I can start making emoticons for multiple clients, instead of just one or two.
The Jabber spec doesn't look so bad - except it doesn't look to have been designed with multi-protocol clients in mind. That's probably to be expected though.
Using the <object/> element is a neat idea actually - makes the style media independent and you can specify more than one media type. I really like that part, if text-to-speech is active, for example, we could play a sound as well as displaying the icon.
I don't think it exactly suits our needs for a universal icon style format, but there are some ideas in there worth looking at.
